In the vicinity of the Bardenas Reales Natural Park you will find this medieval walled enclosure, strategically positioned on a summit (431 m.), between the towns of Caparroso and Carcastillo, from where you can make out the medieval village of Ujué.
Anyone who wants to step back in time to far-off eras replete with history will have a wonderful opportunity on entering the settlement, which played a key role in the defence of the former Kingdom of Navarre until it was conquered by Castile in 1512.
Following excavations in the settlement, a route has been prepared that enables you to discover the features that used to make up the medieval urban layout by means of various explanatory panels. Here you will find the main entrance to the enclosure, the lieutenant's house, the cistern, the necropolis, the walls and the Almenara (or watchtower) amongst others. The itinerary concludes in a small interpretation centre in the chapel of San Nicolás.
