128 kilometres, 8 mountain passes and 3,600 metres of ups and downs
await the participants in this race, which starts in Ochagavía
. The Irati Xtrem
is a non-competitive cyclotourist ride; in other words, there is no ranking or winners. The race starts neutralised for the first three kilometres and the riders are then released, with each one chooses the pace he or she wants (or can maintain)... However, those who really want to compete can do so in the uphill time trial to Larrau
, one of the mythical mountain passes in the Pyrenees in Navarre.
There are impressive spots such as the highlands of Jaurrieta, Remendia, Abaurrea Alta, Azpegi or the summit of Mount Larrau, and typical villages like Ochagavía, Ezcároz, Aribe or Orbaizeta
that await the riders… or visitors who are just out for the day. The little ones can also race each other in the 'prueba txiki'
accompanied by games and all kinds of surprises.
