If the wonders of the Ribera region have tempted you and you're heading to the south of Navarre, why not buy a ticket to travel back in time and discover the world of railways at the beginning of the 19th century? The best way to do this is to stop at the border with La Rioja in the town of
Castejón. Alongside the RENFE station, occupying what used to be its company store, you'll find an informative Railway Museum which recreates the ambience of the time and houses documents, maps and photographs of our railway past.
You'll also find some
old implements, highlights of which are a wonderful collection of streetlamps, a fire truck from 1824, a steam machine from 1925, a reproduction of railway points and all the materials that the people responsible for looking after the lines used to use. The museum also has a
large-scale model train set which reproduces the Castejón station in 1867 and the line branches from 1930.
