Olite Patron Saint's Festivities

The local fiestas are held from the 13th to the 19th of September and get under way at 12 noon with the traditional launching of the rocket. The most noteworthy events include the running of the bulls and the bullfights, the parades led by the troupe of Giants and Bigheads, and the popular lunches.

Another of the most important events is the popular Riau-Riau, held on the first day of the festivities at 5.30 p.m. The local council, accompanied by the troupe of Giants, pipers and the municipal band, parade to the sound of music and surrounded by locals to the Church of Santa María la Real.

There is also plenty of music provided by brass bands and pipers, who enliven the streets of the town every day. For the kids, there is the bull of fire and, the weekend before, the children's party with inflatable castles, fancy-dress dance, a parade of floats, the children's bullrun and a fun bullfighting show with clowns.
