Alpine accentor

Small mountain bird that inhabits rocky areas and high-altitude pastures. Present on the peaks in summer, comes down to lower levels during harsh winters.

Zones: Mountains.

Recommended observation points: Irati-Abodi, Belagua.

Times of the year present: all year round.

Observation: relatively easy; not wary of humans.

Nature: resident with altittude movement in winter.

Description: medium-sized, stocky, sturdy bird with dark brown. Its reddish-brown flanks, white gular region with fine black bars and white spots on wing coverts are characteristic.

Similar species: Dunnock.
