Medium-sized bird, abundant in villages, towns/cities and agricultural areas. More abundant towards the south. A resident species.

Zones: All zones.


Recommended observation points: Las Cañas Reservoir, Laguna de Pitillas, Sotos del Arga, Bardenas, Sangüesa, Lumbier-Arbaiun, Ultzama-Basaburua.

Observation: very easy.

Nature: resident

Description: medium sized bird with unspotten black plumage with purple gloss. Yellowish sharp bill and intense rose legs. In winter plumage not so brilliant and presents some small whitish spots and dark bill and legs.

Similar species: Common Starling, specially in the winter.
