Going south from
Auritz/Burguete, the road leads towards Aurizberri/Espinal, another interesting town of the Navarrese Pyrenees thanks to its layout with beautiful buildings along the main street and its incessant flow of pilgrims on their way to Santiago.
The structure of this town features beautiful houses that line the main street, along which a continuous trail of pilgrims passes on their journey to
Santiago.
King Teobaldo II founded it in 1269 and, like its neighbour, the French burnt it down in the 17th century. As for its artistic treasures, we would highlight the
church of San Bartolomeo built in 1961, with some interesting gilded pieces such as its Renaissance-style cross.
GastronomyDo not miss the opportunity to try the excellent cuisine of the area. These lands are famous for trout and wild mushrooms, of which the beltza variety is the star. These can be tasted in the restaurants of the area in the form of flavoursome mushroom omelettes, especially in the autumn.
