Malerreka is located in the mountains in north-western
Navarre. It consists of 13 municipalities in the
upper reaches of the River Bidasoa that have been able to conserve the best of their traditions. Bathed by the rivers Ezkurra and Ezpelura, the area's natural surroundings are characterised by
oak and beech forests and many rivers and streams. Outstanding natural sites are the
Señorío de Bertiz Natural Park and the
Leurtza reservoirs. Take part in the fun of the
Day of the Valley, an event that brings people together in a joyful festivity in which you can enjoy
exhibitions of handcrafts, Basque pelota matches,
music and many other activities.
A good opportunity to get to know this genuinely Navarrese area.
