Malerreka is located in the mountains in north-western
Navarre. It consists of 13 municipalities in the
upper reaches of the River Bidasoa that have been able to conserve the best of their traditions. Bathed by the rivers Ezkurra and Ezpelura, the area's natural surroundings are characterised by
oak and beech forests and many rivers and streams. Outstanding natural sites are the
Señorío de Bertiz Natural Park and the
