From this impressive viewpoint surrounded by vegetation you can sense the nearby Selva (wild forest) of Irati
. Access is along a simple natural rock path until you reach the summit, with a short section of steps and a handrail along almost the entire route. The Aezkoa valley
stretches out before your eyes with the main town, Aribe, in the distance. Above the valley is the rocky peak of Berrendi and the course of the river Irati, which served for many year as a transport route for wood on almadías
The name Ariztokia - in Basque, 'place of oaks' - is due to the white oak groves that exgend all around. When they mix with the beech forests they create a beautiful whole, particularly in autumn with a blaze of colours. Any time of year except winter is ideal for a visit; the heavy snow does not allow access up to the viewpoint.
