Fiestas, traditions and events of interest / Christmas ceremony

This tradition, called the 'Noche de los Calderos', goes back to biblical times. It involves banging all kinds of old saucepans, frying pans, tin cans and other objects in the streets of Lumbier to make as much noise as possible. Basically, the idea is to help the Three Wise Men find the way to the town and scare off evil spirits in the process. The fun for the children takes place mid-morning, while groups of young people take over in the evening dragging large cooking pots along the main street and the surrounding areas.
