This section is open to the collaboration of any birder (professional or amateur). We shall be most grateful for all sightings of interest sent in. Should you wish to send us your sightings, then please detail the following minimum information: species, date, place (locality or location), No. of examples and name(s) of the birder(s). Any other additional information, such as age, sex, plumage, behaviour, time, coordinates, altitude, etc., will also be gratefully received.

When is a sighting of interest?

Sightings of interest include all of those listed below:

  • Any sighting of rare or scarce birds (indicated in List of Birds in Navarra with an E = scarce, ME = very scarce and all those specified as ?vagrant? ?link-).
  • Records of exceptional concentrations of certain species.
  • Phenological information on migration, wintering or breeding: first and last sightings, high points of migration or mating behaviour (song, nuptial displays, etc.), first song, first chicks, etc.
  • Exceptional phenological information (very early, late or out of habitual period).
  • Exceptional distributional information: i.e. records of birds out of their habitual area of distribution or habitat.
  • Migratory passage or wetland counts.

If you are not sure whether your information may be of interest, send it anyway.

NB: Information on nests (particularly of endangered species) or any information which may be considered delicate regarding the preservation of the birds involved or the environment they have been found in will not be published, although records of this kind will be gratefully received in order to complete the information available.
