Essential visits
This route is the continuation of the 'Vía Tolosana' (from Toulouse), which enters the Iberian Peninsula through the Pyrenean Somport Pass in Huesca. It enters Navarre at Sangüesa and joins up with the route from Orreaga/Roncesvalles at Puente La Reina in a rolling landscape of cereal fields, vineyards, windparkks, pine woods and narrow gorges. The route has felt the mark of history in the form of defensive bastions, fortresses, palaces and castles that recall its strategic importance in the Middle Ages.

Church of Santa María la Real in Sangüesa: built between the 12th and 14th centuries in the Romanesque transition to Gothic style, it is a National Monument. Its façade is considered one of the masterpieces of Romanesque architecture in Spain.
Very close to the route, do not miss:

Church of Santa María de Eunate at Muruzábal: with its enigmatic geometry, this 12th century church with an octogonal layout and mysterious origins is a rare, beautiful and appealing example of Romanesque architecture. It is a National Monument.
