Bicicleta de carretera. Estella-Lizarra-Viana

Pilgrim's Way to Santiago

This short stage runs through the region of Estella-Lizarra, and is good to rest your body after the effort made in previous sections - although there are still some treacherous slopes.

From the capital of the Ega, you exit along the NA-1110, following the direction of the Saint James Route, towards the adjacent town of Ayegui. After passing beside the Monastery of Iratxe, with its wine fountain, you must continue leaving Montejurra to the left and Monjardín to the right.

At Azqueta, after passing through the tunnel, you must enter the N-111. However, these roads, with significant traffic until recent years as they linked Pamplona and Logroño, have calmed down greatly with the construction of the dual carriageway (A-12).

From Los Arcos onwards, the terrain is very tough, with particularly steep slopes at Torres del Río. The last kilometres run downhill until reaching the vicinity of Viana, where the final hill awaits.
