The Roman road at Ablitas was part of one of the most important road networks in Hispania, the Via de Italia in Hispania
, which linked the Mediterranean to the Bay of Biscay, and Tarraco
(Tarragona) to Asturica Augusta
(Astorga). The entire section of the road that passes through southern Navarre has not been signposted.
The Interpretation Area covers a 200-metre-long section of Roman road and protects it with rustic fencing. Panels provide information on the way in which Roman roads were built, quite similar to our agricultural tracks. The reproduction of a milestone completes this "open-air museum".
