The Ibañeta and Lindux mountain passes are located at the southernmost end of the Valley of Valcarlos and are a passing point for migrants crossing the valley from north to south. The passes have heights between 1,000 and 1.200 metres above sea level and are surrounded by summits of around 1,300 m to the west and 1,500 m to the east, making them an excellent point to avoid higher mountains. These circumstances and their strategic geographical position, on the westernmost end of the Pyrenees, makes them one of the best places to see birds in active migration in Western Europe.
There is a tarmac track about 3-km. long from Ibañeta to Lindux (the best observation point) running through Beech woods.Habitats
