The Valle of Arce
, located in the foothills of the Pyrenees
next to the Itoiz reservoir
, is crossed from north to south by the Urrobi and Irati rivers. Arce is a peaceful valley where uninhabited areas are common and where the rural atmosphere of the past is felt. It is almost virgin territory in which the landscape is really impressive. It also conserves fine examples of Romanesque churches such as the chapel of Santa María de Arce. The valley is made up of the village councils of Arrieta, Azparren, Lacabe, Nagore (the main locality), Saragüeta, Úriz and Villanueva de Arce.
If you would like to switch off from the weekly routine, come and see the Day of the Valley
, when the local people get together and organise the festivity on a rotating basis among the villages. Music, games, a communal meal and a good atmosphere await you. Don't miss it!
Did you know that...?
The Days of the Valleys are celebrations of a festive nature that bring people together from the towns and villages in them. They are held on a rotating basis, and the organising town or village puts on the best possible show. The numerous activities - for all ages - make the event a fantastic opportunity to spend a pleasant day and get to know local traditions at the same time.
