Molino de Etxaide
The mill at Etxaide is one of the oldest among the 30 that used to exist in the Baztan valley. Built in the 19th century and restored in 2003, it stands one kilometre from the town of Elizondo and is still working today. It is a water mill where the corn is milled by the traditional method. The flour produced is used to make fine and delicate crepes called 'talos'. In the past this was a basic foodstuff, like bread, but is now only tasted in fairs, festivities and on special occasions. Nevertheless, if you would like to try one you can do so at the end of the guided visit to this delightful building in Elizondo.
