With the limestone crests of the Lóquiz range of hills as a backdrop, the valley of Lana was portrayed in the film Tasio by Montxo Armendáriz. The film was about the hard life of the charcoal burners who used to spend months in the mountains in the past. The filmmaker did not choose Viloria as the setting by change, because the old trade was still going and charcoal was produced using the traditional method. Now, every summer the flat land at the end of the village of Viloria still sees the charcoal stacks smoking again to re-enact the old occupation.
In August, a tribute is paid to this trade in the village. There is a thematic day with a number of activities such as exhibitions, a chistorrada (tasting of grilled spicy sausages), jotas and animation, etc. The central event, however, are the demonstrations by the charcoal burners of the area. Discover how the stacks where wood becomes charcoal are made, and the tools used... so that this old occupation does not fade into obscurity.
