In Uztárroz, the northernmost town in the Roncal Valley, you will find the Museum of Cheese and Seasonal Livestock Migration. Photographs, utensils and clothing related to this ancient craft are on display in the museum; however, it is also possible to learn about the current methods used for producing the tasty Roncal cheese, one of the two cheeses in Navarre to boast the Denominación de Origen (Designation of Origin) quality label that has won prizes in numerous national and international fairs.

Located off the road, in the manufacturing area of the Kabila Enea cheese factory - one of several facilities in the valley set aside for production of the renowned sheep's cheese - the Museum of Cheese houses every type of equipment used over the years for producing this food, which is proud of its Denominación de Origen label.

Next to fine old photographs and information panels illustrating the cheese-making process, the room boasts a meticulous selection of the various utensils used from time immemorial in the production of home-made cheese, in huts or "muideras"; this is in addition to shepherds' clothing, shearing equipment, branding implements, etc.

You can complete this free visit of the museum by observing the current methods for producing Roncal cheese, in the factory, and/or by purchasing cheese or other home-made gastronomic products from the on-site shop.
