Founded in 1940 by 24 grape-growers, the bodega later expanded by bringing in more vineyards and new partners. The grapes come from the 370 hectares owned by the partners, having incorporated new vine varieties to improve the quality of its wines.
The bodega only makes red and rosé wines using Garnacha, Tempranillo, Viura, Mazuelo, Graciano and Muscat grape varieties, and bottles are marketed under the "Virrey Palafox" label.
